Ely Runners Alex Metcalfe and Justin Smith, took on the underpasses and roundabouts of 2017 Milton Keynes Marathon while fellow Ely Runner, Lionel Smith, ran the Half Marathon. Justin reports on his race.
The cliche of the Milton Keynes course consisting mainly of underpasses, roundabouts, and slopes was not unfounded. But there was the occasional lake, park or pretty village.
The course was well marshalled, and all along, families came out to hand out sweets, orange segments, and other goodies: the race was well supported by the crowds. All in all, an enjoyable if a not slightly hilly couple of races, but on the day, nice weather and the odd light and refreshing drizzle. Superb medals and technical t-shirts were handed out to all finishers along with the usual drinks and snacks. The requested photo source cannot be loaded at this time.
